The Best Ways To Burn Fat
Burning fat is much simpler than we think. No, I don't mean standing in the sun with a trash bag on or sitting in a sauna and letting the fat literally melt off you. Rather, I mean there are a few things that are proven to work towards burning fat....and they work VERY well. Fat loss can become a mystery when you have endless "clean eaters" telling you that you can lose weight eating whatever you want as long as it is "natural" or "real food, and with "if it fits your macros" groups telling you that you can throw in some intermittent fasting to never be able to go over your calories. Fat loss, much like building muscle, has became over complicated and it is about time we made it simple again (Check out my article HOW TO BUILD MUSCLE BY KEEPING IT STUPID SIMPLE). In this article I will be covering the absolute BEST WAYS TO BURN FAT.
Go figure! One of the best ways of burning fat is to do more. Now this does not end in the weight room. Your work out is only 30 to 90 minutes of your day. What you do the remaining time of the day matters as well. Yes, adding some cardio and more sets/repetitions does increase energy output, but there is only so much you can do in 90 minutes. How do you do more away from the gym? Get moving. Find little ways to make your body work. Standing more during the day, parking further from your destination in a parking lot, or doing push-ups everytime you go to the restroom are all ways to improve energy output without setting aside a work out at the gym.
Yes, eating less can do wonders for fat loss. Now here is the kicker....I mean eating less calories, not just volume of food. Countless times people assume "eating less" means to just eating smaller portions, but while choosing caloric dense foods. What this does is it not only gives you excess calories, but deprives you of the nutrients you need from various foods. Eat less......trans fat, sugar, and overall calories. You want a 100% chance, bulletproof plan for losing fat? Eat less calories to be in a caloric deficit WHILE still eating your nutrient dense choices (vegetables, nuts and legumes, and fruits).
This method of burning fat is quite misunderstood. With all the crazy gimmick marketing that has been taking place over the years, more and more people are being misinformed about what supplementation actually provides. Supplements allow you to bring up to par what you may be slacking on in your diet, as well as "amplify" what you are already doing. Something like caffeine helps increase blood flow, metabolism, and energy. It in itself does not burn fat (well, to the degree that makes drastic results on it's own), but consuming caffeine in a caloric deficit can help increase your metabolism while your body is slowly trying to slow down metabolism (body's reaction in order to try and stay in homeostasis), suppress appetite (short term), and help you have the energy to expend even more calories (even when your body is lacking the caloric energy it is used to). That is only one example and the combination of supplements you could use is endless. Make sure to do some research and price check before adding supplements to your regime, because supplements can aid in your fat loss journey when used correctly.
Build More Muscle
This is probably the least talked about method of fat loss and I cannot fathom why. Building more muscle just downright makes fat loss MUCH easier. When you have more muscle you have so much more fat loss potential. Why? Many reasons. When you have more muscle your metabolism is higher (muscle takes more calories to maintain and move), you are able to perform more efficient exercise (doing more work with heavier weights), and you're nutrient partitioning is improved (example: glucose goes more towards muscle glycogen than stored as fat). Just because you are wanting to lose fat does not mean you should ever rule out building some slabs of muscle.
With all the crazy gimmick marketing out there, it can seem as if fat loss is a complex phenomenon that only works for those that pay money for enough body creams and wraps. Fat loss, much like muscle building, is actually quite simple. Doing more during your day increases your energy output and will help lower the energy balance in your body. You can combine "doing more" with "eating less" for the best results. Eating less means eating less overal calories, as well as less trans fats, sugars, and non-nutrients dense foods. After you have the actions taking care of, it's time to maybe consider supplementation. Supplementation can provide you the ingredients you are not able to get in your diet, as well as ingredients that can help improve the progress you are already making. Last but not least building some meaty slabs of muscle can help you with metabolism, energy output, and nutrition partitioning. This is the ABSOLUTE BEST WAY TO LOSE FAT and will always be. Regardless of what technology, supplementation, or ideology comes out....this will always be king.
